A sprain that doesn't get better isn't just a sprain

Ankle injuries range from a sprain that heals in weeks to a fracture requiring surgery and lasting instability. Both are claimable where someone else's negligence caused them.

Ankle injuries are often underestimated, by insurers and sometimes by the person who's been hurt. What looks like a routine sprain can turn out to involve ligament damage, a hairline fracture, or an instability that affects mobility for months.

We treat these claims on their actual medical evidence rather than assuming a minor label means a minor claim.

What kinds of ankle injury claim do we handle?

  • Slips, trips and falls

On uneven pavements, wet floors and poorly maintained surfaces.

  • Workplace ankle injuries

Including falls from height and awkward manual handling.

  • Road accident ankle injuries

    Including fractures from footwell impacts.

  • Sports and leisure injuries

Where unsafe facilities or equipment were a factor.

  • Fractures requiring surgery

Including ongoing instability or reduced mobility afterwards.

What if I was partly at fault?

Partial responsibility reduces compensation proportionally rather than ruling out a claim. It's always worth asking rather than assuming.

What you could receive

Ankle injury claims cover general damages for the injury and its effect on your life, and special damages for financial losses, including lost earnings, physiotherapy, and where mobility is affected long-term, adaptations or ongoing care.

We'll talk you through what's realistic for your situation once we've reviewed the details. We won't overpromise, and we won't quote a figure before we've properly understood your case.

How does a claim actually work?

Four stages, and you always know which one you're in.

  1. 01

    Initial consultation

You tell us what happened. We give you a straight view on whether your claim has merit, free and with no obligation.

  2. 02

    Investigation

We gather medical records, imaging, incident reports and witness statements.

  3. 03

    Medical evidence

Where the injury is more than a straightforward sprain, we arrange an independent medical assessment to properly establish the prognosis.

  4. 04

    Negotiation and resolution

Most claims settle without a final hearing. We'll explain how our fee is calculated before you agree to anything.

Don't leave it late

How long do I have to claim?

Most personal injury claims must be brought within three years of the accident, or three years from the date you first connected your injury to it. For children, that three year clock starts on their eighteenth birthday.

If you're not sure whether you're still within the time limit, contact us. We'll tell you quickly.

The money side

What will it cost me?

Nothing upfront. Where a no win, no fee agreement applies, our fee comes from your compensation only if the claim succeeds, and it's set out in full, in writing, before you agree to anything.

  • We'll explain the funding options available for your claim, which may include a conditional fee (no win, no fee) arrangement, clearly and in full before you decide whether to proceed.
  • Where a conditional fee agreement applies and your claim succeeds, a success fee is deducted from your compensation. The law limits that fee in personal injury claims, and it is never taken from any damages awarded for future care or future loss of earnings. We explain exactly how it is worked out, in writing, before you agree to anything.
  • A cancellation fee may apply if you withdraw outside the 14 day cooling off period. Full details will be provided before you sign anything.
Common questions

Frequently asked questions

It was just a sprain. Is it worth claiming?

If someone else's negligence caused it, yes, it's worth asking. Even a straightforward sprain can involve real time off work and treatment costs.

What if my ankle still isn't right months later?

That's common with more serious ankle injuries and is exactly why we don't rush to settle before the medical picture is clear.

Do I need an X-ray or scan to prove my injury?

It helps considerably, but a claim isn't ruled out without one. We'll advise on what evidence is realistic to gather.

Can I claim if the fall happened at work?

Yes, workplace ankle injuries are a common claim, particularly where flooring, footwear provision or manual handling contributed.
